One-week, half-day camp. Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Participants must be 10 years to 12 years old when the program starts.
Let's Make Furniture!
Join us for a fun week of exploring and talking about how things are made. Campers will create their own piece of furniture – a bench, chair, or table – from dowel rods and wooden slats, adding a unique
finishing touch with paint, and learn fun facts about trees and the role of trees in our environment.
About Wyatt Severs
Wyatt is a furniture maker and sculptor. He has taught woodworking to young people through Anderson Ranch, Arrowmont, John C. Campbell Folk School, Kentucky VSA, Murray Art Guild, Sprocket, and Penland Kids Camp.
A few important specifics
Age: Your child's age must fall within the age range specified for the workshop before it begins. If your child is within a month of the cutoff date and you feel they would be able to fit in with the group, you may email [email protected] to request special consideration.
Medical Information: If your child has accessibility needs, allergies, food sensitivities, etc. you must indicate this in the “Medical Information” section and also speak to the instructor at the beginning of the camp.
Covid-19: Penland will follow the recommendations of local healthcare professionals and the CDC for Covid-19 safety precautions. Masks and social distancing may be required.
Scholarships: To apply for a scholarship, choose the $10 Scholarship Application fee in the tuition options screen. Additional instructions are provided during the registration process.
