Description

Making Music by Hand with Phillip Nogueras

Camp Description

Come learn how to make your own musical instruments! Throughout the week, campers will explore different types of instruments, where they originate from, various techniques for creating them, and fun ways to play and share them. Instruments will include bamboo wind chimes, sound sticks, and more! Using simple hand tools, natural and recycled materials, and our own imaginations, everyone will go home with their own instruments and the knowledge to make more on their own.

About the Instructor

Phillip Nogueras is a multi-instrumentalist, instrument maker, and music teacher. His focus is on simple instruments made from natural materials, creating complex sounds and rhythms that blend together when played in a group. As a teacher for over 10 years, Phillip takes students on a slow but steady journey through instrument and music creation, helping support their capacities for listening, self-expression, and improvisation. When not in the classroom, he enjoys gardening, gathering food in the forest, and making baskets.
