Colorful Art Charms and Jewelry

Camp Description

As a starting place for ideas in this camp, we will spend time observing the natural world. Using jeweler’s tools like saws and hammers, students will learn to create delicate shapes. Torch enameling will add color for richness in juxtaposition with copper and brass elements. It will be an exciting week to bring forth small treasures of your own! Students will start by making keychain charms and ornaments and also create wearable artistic jewelry like earrings and pendants.

About the Instructor

Melisa Cadell is a contemporary artist and educator living in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Her figurative sculptures are known for their unique expression, and her work frequently explores themes of social justice, resilience, and the complexities of the human condition. In addition to her studio practice, Melisa is a dedicated educator, guiding students in translating thought into sculptural form. She has worked with students from K-12, universities and professional levels. She is honored to work with and learn from them all.

A few important specifics

• Age: Your child's age must fall within the age range specified for the workshop before it begins. If your child is within a month of the cutoff date and you feel they would be able to fit in with the group, you may email [email protected] to request special consideration.

• Medical Information: If your child has accessibility needs, allergies, food sensitivities, etc. you must indicate this in the “Medical Information” section and also speak to the instructor at the beginning of the camp.

• Cancellation Policy: If you cancel anytime up to 6 weeks before the beginning of a camp or workshop, you will receive a refund minus the $25 nonrefundable processing fee. If you cancel less than 6 weeks before the beginning of a camp or workshop, refunds are not available.
