Camp Description

Have you ever wanted your own custom clothes? Transform a garment and give it a new life through embroidery and block printing in this exciting workshop! First, you will learn embroidery, hand-stitching, and how to block print on fabric by creating a bandana and small sample projects. Then, design and create your own upcycled fashion project that uses embroidery and block printing with inspiration from contemporary and historical textile artists. This workshop emphasizes creative expression, sustainability, and creating art you can wear!

About the Instructor

Kimmy is an artist and art educator who primarily works with fiber, mixed media, and printmaking. She is fascinated by organic forms in nature, intuition and memory, and the concept of place, particularly inner and outer landscapes. She has a Masters of Arts in Teaching from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and taught Visual Art in Chicago Public Schools for nine years before moving to Asheville. She loves creating spaces for people to come together and create, and she hosts Gather Craft Club under the name Gather Studio.
